Thriving Well

As we end off the decade, it's time to look to yourself and focus on your own happiness! Here're some self care tips on how you could take this year end period to rejuvenate and pamper yourself.

17 Dec 2019
It’s that most wonderful time of the year.

With the final days of the decade slowly seeping away, you might feel an overwhelming sense of nostalgia drowning out the jingle and laughter of the season.

As we wind up the year and restart another that is filled with uncertainties, memories of 2019 replay like a vivid movie. Those long hours at work to meet the deadlines, the parties you had for your friends and loved ones, the excuses you made along the way.

“Too busy” is one of those universal reasons for the lack of self-care in the fast-paced and competitive landscape in Singapore.

Now switch off the work, turn on the music and just be a little nicer to yourself.

Keep your snacks on track

We know it’s hard to stay away from the festive feast, but the good news is – you don’t have to. Moderation is key and don’t forget your vegetables, fruits, meat and protein in your daily meals.

Time for “Me Time”

It is important to spend quality time with your friends and family, but it is more important to spend time with yourself. Yes, you have read it right; carve out some “me time”, take some time to sip on a cup of hot tea as you catch up on your favourite book or movie is alright. Never feel guilty to take a break to recharge and reconnect back with yourself.

Spending time on self-reflection brings greater appreciation for the little things in life and increase your self-awareness to better yourself. Margaret Wheatley, author of Finding Our Way: Leadership For an Uncertain Time (2005) wrote “Without reflection, we go blindly on our way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful. It's amazing to me how much we do, but how little time we spend reflecting on what we just did.”
