Stick To An Active Lifestyle

You know how the saying goes “Healthy skin is a mirror of a healthy body”.

That's why before you focus on pampering your skin, it is important to start off by keeping to an active lifestyle. Kimberly Kwek - Senior Independent Sales Director of Mary Kay Singapore, shares with us how regular workouts are effective in stimulating the production of your skin’s natural oils to keep your complexion smooth and supple.

As you sweat, your pores open. Hence, you have to remember to cleanse and remove any makeup as well as skin-care products before your sweat sessions to avoid letting too much dirt enter.

When you are exercising, your heart rate increases and this boosts your blood circulation which helps in spreading oxygen and nutrients throughout your body and to your skin cells. So hop on to experience one of our fun classes today and enjoy the benefits of healthy skin and body!

Consume More Vitamin C and Drink Up

Although it can be satisfying to have some sweet treats, be sure to consume sparingly. Healthline had shared that sugar in any form influences the two major causes of acne: hormones and inflammation. As the sugar level in your body increases, your pancreas responds by releasing insulin which contributes to acne development as more sebum is produced in your body.

If you are looking for something to sweeten up your day, Kimberly recommends loading up your diet with antioxidants such as blueberry, kiwi, guava, and papaya. Not only are they high in Vitamin C and are able to help detox your system but also prevent constipation which might lead to build-up toxins that may cause your skin to be dull.

Don’t forget to stay hydrated as well! By drinking water throughout the day, toxins get flushed out of your body and this helps your body cells (including skin cells) to function better. At the same time, your skin can stay hydrated too.

Cleanse Regularly

On top of hydrating consistently, Kimberly also encourages one to cleanse regularly with a brightening cleanser, imbued with hydrating properties.

Dr.Cristi Gomez - Director of Product Safety & Environmental Toxicology, also stressed on the importance of cleansing as it helps to remove makeup, dirt, grime, and impurities that can lead to blocked pores and breakouts. In addition, cleansing also gives you a fresh start for your night routine so you could wake up looking fresher for the day!

5-Steps Skincare Routine

We all know this feeling. After a long day, you can’t wait to fall into the arms of your bed and this can make you tempted to skip your skincare routine.

However, it is important to keep to the routine as your skin is the largest organ of your body and it is made up of millions of skin cells. Though it might seem like that is a lot of important biology to be taken care of, it can be settled with a 5-Steps skincare routine daily: Cleanse, tone, serum, moisturise, and sunscreen.

For the best results, Kimberly recommends using brightening and hydrating products for your skin. Try not to think of this as a hassle as the results you achieve at the end of the day will definitely be worth it!

Exfoliate Two to Three Times Per Week

According to an article by Mary Kay, exfoliation refers to the process of renewing the skin by removing dead skin cells. Exfoliating your skin two to three times a week with a physical or chemical exfoliator can help in removing the dead skin cells and any lingering dirt build-up over time which can cause breakouts on the surface of your skin.

This process makes way for newer, healthier skin cells and reveals a smooth skin layer that has a beautiful radiance. Kimberly also revealed that one can go for products with Micro Grains for a more even and thorough exfoliation.

At the end of the day, your beauty is determined by your actions and not by the words of others. The first step to being your best self is to take good care of yourself and be confident in what you do!
