On 24 October 2008, The SGX Bull Charge™ 2008 once again dominated the heart of the Central Business District in its trademark spectacle and style. Well into its fifth year, the annual charity event was organized by The Singapore Exchange (SGX) to promote social responsibility within the financial sector, and saw a whopping crowd of 2,700 participants from over 68 financial institutions and listed companies gathered in unison at the Padang to raise funds for the needy.
The event took on an Asian flavor, manifested in the likes of costume-clad stilt walkers and roving performances, and like the years before, the ever enthusiastic and brilliant Group Exercise instructors from Fitness First had the privilege of leading the runners in an up-tempo mass warm up that certainly set the mood for the rest of the day!
The team of runners from Fitness First, including our members Mr Mok, Pauline and Christina, did us proud once again this year and gave their all in support of this worthy cause. Among the first to cross the finish line were our Personal Trainers Andrew Jacobs from Capital Tower and Micky Neo from OUB Centre. Of course, our special tribute and praise goes to our Managing Director Mr. Anthony Tottman, who bagged the Second Prize in the Big Boss Challenge 3.2km run for CEO/MDs for the second time in the event’s history!
The SGX Bull Charge™ 2008 raised a total of $2.1 million for a record 19 charity organizations, including The Autism Association, The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, Boys' Town, Pathlight School, as well as the China Youth Development Foundation – the first overseas charity to take part in the event.
We thank our members for joining us in this community endeavor and hope to see you again next year!
