Since meeting my husband 3 years ago, I have eaten and eaten without any care as to how much weight I was putting on. Before that I was always the size I am now and at 5ft 3” you need to look at what you are putting into your body because 2 stone to someone my height is like 4 stone to someone of normal height.

Being in a relationship meant a lot of drinking and a lot of cooking. I rarely ate a proper meal when I was single and in London. Then, all of a sudden, there I was in a relationship where I was cooking lasagna, fish pie, roast chicken, shepherd’s pie and lots of pasta for my boyfriend and I. I was doing little or no exercise and then we moved to Singapore where the eating and drinking is just enhanced. I noticed I was getting tired easily at work and my usual routine was work, then going home to make pasta/lasagna and eating then going to bed. Exercise did not figure at all.

Then, my boyfriend proposed and I decided 4-5 months before the wedding that I was going to get fit and in shape. I had a Personal Trainer, Francis help me at Fitness First and we started training twice a week. At the end of the 4-5 months, we were training 3 times a week and I was playing tennis twice plus walking home.

I also decided to watch my carbohydrate intake and I cut out potato, bread and pasta and rice from my diet. I was eating healthily and replacing bad carbs with salad and roasted vegetables and the odd piece of cheese.

When I first started on the training program, I weighed 76kg. By my wedding day in July, I had hit my target of 60kg and have maintained a weight of 61.5kg - even after a 2 week honeymoon in Italy and some little indulgences. I am still aiming for my target weight of 60kg .

The training at Fitness First was fantastic and motivated me to become healthy and fit again. Francis pushed me but not too hard and I found myself pushing myself like I had never done before.

We did circuit, interval and weight training and I can honestly say I was doing things that I never dreamt I could achieve. This was all thanks to Francis who stood by me and kept my motivation high but who also became my gym buddy.

All in all I would like to thank Francis and his team at OUB Centre for getting me back into a regime and ‘shifting’ the flab which even I was in denial about at first. It was a great result which I am so pleased about that I vowed on my wedding day never to get as big as I had been before!
