Having been genetically overweight for 30 years, I had given up after having tried slimming centres and diets. But as I stepped into my 30s, I became aware that I had to do something about my health and weight because stamina and physical strength become more important in my job as an Early Childhood Educator as I age. Plus, I got exhausted and sick easily.
When I saw an advertisement about Fitness First, I decided to give it one more try. I was hoping at least to build up my stamina and strengthen my immune system. I got much more than that.
At first, I wasn’t all that keen on taking on Personal Training as I wasn’t confident that I would be able to get out of my 10 year exercise hiatus and overcome my weight issues. However, the trial sessions I had with Fred convinced me that he would be able to help me reverse all that.
When I first started with Fred, I struggled (or gave up) doing just 2 sit ups. Fred started me on cardio and resistance training and 3 months after, the results of Fred’s excellent program shone through: I could do 30 sit ups at one go! Fred’s plan was this: (1)nutrition: reduce carbs, no food intake after 7pm (2)resistance training twice a week (3)cardio training twice a week. It was a struggle and the exercises Fred put me through were great hurdles, but having him support me and praise me at each successful attempt boosted my confidence and helped immensely.
In just 4 months, my weight dropped from 98kg (BMI 36%) to 78kg (BMI 28%) - a total weight loss of 20kg! My dress size dropped from 18 to 14.
Because I didn’t tell my family and friends about my fitness training program, they were amazed by the changes and all commented that I looked slimmer and more radiant than before. When I finally told them about the program I was on, they were excited to hear that I lost weight without taking any slimming pills. That got them even more inspired to exercise and go to the gym more regularly.
With the facilities at Fitness First and motivation from Fred, I decided to take up another 30 session pack, as I believe I can achieve an even healthier BMI. Truly, after another 4 months, I lost an additional 10kg. The encouragement from my friends, family and Fred really made a significant difference.
Overall, after 8 months of endurance, determination and patience, I have lost a total of 30kg from Feb 2009 - 98kg (BMI 36%) to Oct 2009 - 68kg (BMI 24%). Through Fred’s guidance and observation of my monthly food intake and BMI, my goal is more achievable for me. In addition to that, I learn how to have a well balanced diet and without having to starve myself. I do admit the ability to lose weight and maintain my current weight is not an easy task as I do enjoy eating especially dessert. I could eat my favorite food in moderate amount and most importantly, with the help of regular exercise that kept my metabolism going and burn the excess calories I have taken.
My success is not easy and it could not have been possible without the help of Fred and Fitness First. Thank you for making an impossible dream and vision possible.
